interview with PDY Co- chair Salih Muslim;Rojava ,will stablish new civilitation.....
Why is Rojava different from the rest of the Middle East?
A: We have a strategy, and here let me correct you in that we don’t see them as minorities. They are the original people of the area. If the number is small or big it does not matter for us, they have been living with us for hundreds of years. We share our community and our culture with them. With them we improve civilization together. The first civilizations were created in this region; we created them together in Mesopotamia. And we want to establish a real, new and modern project. In our mind we see Mesopotamia as better with diverse people, languages and colors. We see how people have been living for hundreds of years together. If one of the peoples disappears, then this same Mesopotamia will not continue. We want to do the opposite of what the Middle East forced us to do. That earlier project aimed to eliminate the people from their own land. The project was to replace Yezidis, Syriac-Assyrian-Chaldeans, Armenians and others. They wanted to have a one-color nation. We are completely against this. Our project is based on democracy and freedom by encouraging those people to show who they are. I’m asking the people who were forced to leave their lands to come back. We would be very happy if all the Assyrian-Syriacs returned to their lands. Our land is big enough for all of us, we are the wealthiest country in the world. Wealthy not only in resources but in culture.
As you know the mentality of ISIS is over two thousand years old, they want to force our people to do that. We are 180 degrees against that project. The resources that come out of our land are enough for us and the whole world. Many have become wealthy by stealing resources from our land. Until now they are being stolen. They use them to buy weapons which they fight us with. Imagine, we are the owners and we are having our resources taken away from us. We want all the people to live together and share these resources. There is no need to live in other countries and share their bread.
Q: Let’s go back to Syria. How do you see yourself as a PYD member inside a country called Syria? Is your project to build another KRG in Syria?
A: We as the PYD choose self-administration, and we say that it is not only for Kurds but for all of Syria. We have a project called democratic Syria with many colors and ethnicities. In Syria there are many different ethnicities and religions. There are Ismailis, we don’t have them in Rojava but they live in Hama, we don’t have Alawites or Druze in Rojava, but there are in other parts of Syria. As you know, Syria is made up of great variety, for which the most effective project, which can fulfill the needs of Syrians-- in our opinion -- is the self-administration model.
In my own opinion we have to let others build as we did. Till now we see ourselves as a part of Syria, and we are in Syria
A very clear information about Rojava but, what about all displaced Syria around Europe ,just to please a minority ?
